Welcome to my website! I am a ceramic artist living and working in Houston, Texas.
My introduction to ceramics came in the early ’90s as a birthday present from my husband. We had recently moved to Washington, DC, and were just getting settled in. Knowing that I had always been interested in ceramics, he found a teaching studio, Hinckley Pottery, and signed me up for lessons. This was the gift that kept on giving. Moving back to Houston, I continued with ceramics, taking classes at the Glassell School of Art, the teaching institute of The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. Presently I am working in a private co-op studio with 10 other artists.
I am a long-time member of ClayHouston, our local clay organization, currently serving as Past President.
After retiring from a career in marketing management in the environmental industry, I turned my home office into a clay studio and haven’t looked back. My sculptural work has been accepted in a number of area exhibitions. The pieces shown on the home page of this site were installed at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft for approximately six months as part of their Garden Project.
The accompanying photo was taken while I was doing a demo at a local Whole Foods Market, “Giving Day,” in support of Empty Bowls Houston, which raises money to support the Houston Food Bank.
